The combine has begun and so will we here at DCN. With draft prospects becoming more and more known the Cowboys have shown great interest in a few players. However, you guys have shown interest in a few players too. A player that you guys have talked about is WR Jordan Shipley from Texas and today he is the target of our Prospect Profile.
Jordan Shipley (6-0, 195lbs)
Wr/Texas
Shipley is a speedy experienced receiver. His time in the game has allowed him to study the game and understand complex defensive formations and assignments.
Why the Take Him: Shipley is a Texas player so naturally people would love to see him in the Blue and Silver. Beyond that Shipley is an explosive player with great speed and ability. He could add depth to a mediocre receiving unit as well as fill in as a slot receiver. He is an attractive pick if he’s available in the third round.
Why they don’t: You know, there is just not that many weaknesses in this kid. I believe he’s a talented player being easily forgotten in a draft with some great receivers.
Final Word: Shipley is a versatile player who could make plays in different position. He is also known for making big plays when they needed them. However, you’re looking at placing him next to Ogletree and I’m not sure you want to stop the development of Ogletree quite yet.
Jordan Shipley is an interesting player!, Will his skills transfer to the NFL level? maybe. Its not a guarantee but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the Cowboys take him, if available, in the mid 3rd or 4th rounds.
Jordan Shipley scored twice against Alabama's best defensive backs. He's explosive, savvy, and exceptionally intelligent. He's a Texan..and he has DALLAS COWBOYS WRITTEN ALL OVER HIM. Reminds me of the great Lance Alworth.
Jordan Shipley is fast. He's smart. He's a Texan and reminds me of the great Lance Alworth. He stays cool in the middle and mixes it up pretty well with some of the best defensive backs in the nation, scoring twice against a speedy, tough Alabama secondary. Had Colt been at the helm, that game very well could have had a different result with Jordan Shipley. Jordan is a Texan…let's keep him home. He has DALLAS COWBOY written all over him. Go Big “D” !!!
To the comment of stopping Ogletree's development, I think he should be worked in at outside receiver; he played much better than Row Williams towards the end of the season. Miles Austin and Ogletree outside, Witten and Bennit at tight ends, Shipley in the slot – that would be a young, explosive group of receivers.
Jordan Shipley is who you want to have out there if something happens to Tony Romo because McGee was Shipleys QB at Burnet High School. They are Texas football! This pair is definitely the future of the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones had better figure out a way to not have to wait till the third round because it will be too late…Ck out my song “Americas Team” at http://www.myspace.com/davidrwilcoxson/

a guy i think the cowboys should look at say in the fifth of six round is a returner/wide reciever mark mareonie of the montana griz. he got great speed and hands like glue. this kid could be the next miles austin if giving the chance.
Shipley's been doing well for the Bengals these days. Not sure the Cowboys didn't pick him. He would've a great addition.
