Round 4: Aaron Murray, QB, University of Georgia

I don’t think I’ve missed a UGA game in four years and therefore consider myself a subject matter expert when it comes to Aaron Murray.

Murray fits the Cowboys perfectly. While I don’t think he’s the most physically gifted or athletic quarterback available in this draft or even at this spot, Murray is Romo 2.0 and that alone makes him intriguing.

Coming off an ACL injury will have the Cowboy in a position to take a second round talent in the fourth and allow him to sit 2-4 years behind Romo learning and adjusting to the lifestyle.

Murray has an excellent ability to make plays outside the pocket, throws with excellent accuracy and have plus arm-strength. Additionally, he has experience with a pro-style offense and is incredibly smart (has a masters degree in psychology).

Murray would represent the future for the Cowboys and give them some options as they look to retool in the upcoming years as the window continues to close for the current crop of players.

  1. I love the Telvin Smith pick but I think but I think they should look at him as a possible safety. Position flexability always makes a player more attractive.

    • I don’t know. Smith as a safety just reminds me of Roy Williams and I think the ‘Boys need a real ball-hawk in the secondary. But if he’s quick as Bo says then maybe pass disruption could make him a good enough fit. Certainly a lot of room for improvement over the current personnel.
