2017 NFL Scouting combine: 10 DE participants to watch for the Dallas Cowboys

Carl Lawson, Auburn (6’2″, 253)
Carl Lawson might just be the defensive end participant that could benefit the most at the NFL combine. As things stand right now, he is likely a late first, early second round draft pick because of some of the injuries he has sustained in college. But, it’s those injuries that could land him right in the lap of the Dallas Cowboys at 28.
Lawson is exactly the type of DE that the Cowboys will salivate over if his medical report checks out. He has the natural quickness and twitchiness to be a force to be reckoned with in the pass rush, but is also strong at the point of attack in the running game.
I’m personally interested in seeing what his 10-yard split will be for his 40 yard dash, because that is a great indicator of how explosive he is out of a three-point stance when the ball is snapped. I also want to see his ankle flexion and how natural of a bender he is in some of the pass rush drills. I honestly expect him to be a favorite mocked to the Cowboys in the first round post-combine.
