I’m not exactly sure what’s going on. I’ve heard of teams being snake bitten, cursed, bad luck – whatever you want to call it. I’ve never really believed in any of it. But now? I’m starting to wonder.

You know the team’s story with injuries the last three years, and every team has them. I’m just not sure it’s been to the number of KEY players Dallas has seen.

As of day five of training camp, this season is starting to look like the previous three seasons. David Moore reports at the Dallas Morning News that rookie DeMarcus Lawrence broke a bone in his foot that will require surgery. He is expected to miss 8-12 weeks.

Lawrence, who has been running with the first team the last two practices was [su_lightbox src=”http://www.dallascowboys.com/multimedia/videos/DeMarcus-Lawrence-Goes-Down-With-Foot-Injury/f69404a3-f6bb-4004-b15c-5d7bd39ead17″]engaged with Tyron Smith[/su_lightbox] in 1 on 1 drills when the injury happened. What was believed to be a possible high ankle sprain at first, turned into something much worse.

The Cowboys will be looking for Jeremy Mincey, Martez Wilson, Caesar Rayford and others to step up and do the job while Lawrence recovers. The Cowboys also brought in a former first round pick of the San Diego Chargers, Larry English, last week.  However, English is dealing with an injury and the team could be waiting for him to heal to make a move.

Let’s hope the team can continue to have next-man-up mentality and work on getting better every day.
