Lance Dunbar Done For the Season

Patrick Conn

The news on running back Lance Dunbar couldn’t have come at a worse time. Dunbar was starting to put something together for this team. He was proving the coaches right who put their trust in him by giving Murray some rest. He was on the field for 13 plays and got the ball every time. He was averaging over eight yards per carry and he had a career long 45 yard run at one point.

Early on Dunbar had an issue with fumbles early on but he seemed to be correcting the issue. He seemed to be playing the role very similar to Reggie Bush as a receiving and running threat. Although it may just be the fact that he wears number 25. Now the Cowboys must turn to Phillip Tanner and Joseph Randle who have only gotten on the field for special teams. One could expect that this team will abandon the run a little earlier than usual if Murray struggles. The coaching staff has shown no faith in either of them.

Dunbar is one of the guys with great character and a positive outlook. He is like a Swiss army knife at running back as he will do anything that he is called upon to do. Which is much like what he did at the University of North Texas. Even though his season was done he stilled made his commitment to sign autographs at a furniture store in Haltom City where he played high school football. That just goes to show you what kind of guy he is.
