As the Dallas Cowboys are preparing to make a run for the ages and set themselves forever in the record book. Although they’re in the midst of a seven-game losing streak, the season is far from over thanks to the inept football ability of the rest of the NFC East.
Everyone knows by now that Tony Romo will be returning to the field this week against the Miami Dolphins to help lead this Cowboys Crusade to a Super Bowl Fifty victory.
Before we let ourselves become overcome with emotion to the point that we forget that our pants are not the place to go to the bathroom, let’s take a quick look back at what we know and what we can come to expect hopefully moving forward.
- Matt Cassel and Brandon Weeden couldn’t win a game if their lives depended on it. When number NINE returns, the Cowboys should consider cutting ties with them both. If (knock-on-wood) Romo was to go down again, the season is lost and it’s time to turn over the reigns to Kellen Moore. Might as well see what you got in him.
- Update: Brandon Weeden was officially released on Tuesday
- La’el Collins is going to really good. Collins was inserted into the starting lineup after the Cowboys bye. He’s shown flashes, but also made some rookie mistakes. Imagine what this offensive line is going to become with the real captain at quarterback, helping to set the right protections.
- Time to have a nice helping of crow topped off with crow-feathered pie for dessert. For some completely insane reason, I believed that this would be a breakout year for J.J. Wilcox. I even had thoughts of an all-star caliber year. Boy, howdy how do I look now?
- If the hamstring injury to Mo Claiborne is going to cause him to miss time, it’s going to be a big blow to the Cowboys defense. If the Cowboys replace Claiborne with Byron Jones at cornerback, as they did against Tampa Bay, we all know by now that the Cowboys coaches will more than likely insert Wilcox back into the starting safety role. Recipe for yet another disaster.
So for now, while our hopes are still alive and a date with the Dolphins in the Sunshine state upon us, let’s watch our MVP put this wrecked train back on track to the Lombardi Trophy.
Let’s hope and pray Romo can pull it out
