Dak Prescott is one of the more interesting names in this year’s draft class. Up until conference play in 2014, Prescott was arguably the leader for the Heisman. And while his play dwindled off towards the end of the 2014 season, Prescott has made a ton of strides since then, now showing that he is capable of being Day 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
I think the Dallas Cowboys go quarterback early, but if they want a few rounds, Prescott becomes an option because of his inexperience and how he needs more tutelage and seasoning before becoming the real deal.
Nevertheless, Prescott provides a ton of optimism at 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, showing the intelligence and leadership skills that successful quarterbacks intangibly have. Let’s dive into the tape and see how Prescott projects to the NFL.
The first thing I noticed about Prescott is his ability to throw accurately outside the numbers. This was the first throw that stood out to me when I threw on Prescott’s tape.
Because of his size and his athleticism, Prescott will draw some comparisons to a guy like Cam Newton. I wouldn’t call Prescott a running quarterback, but the fact that he can do this adds an extra element to his game. This is what happens when you get in Dak’s way.
On top of putting good velocity on the football, Prescott has a solid deep ball to his arsenal. That’s on full display here when he puts the ball just out of reach of the defender as well as in stride with his receiver.

Prescott deals with his fair share of inconsistencies nonetheless. This is a throw I’d like to see him make with more consistency.
If it’s a trend, I’m going to continue to hit on it. This is just another example of Prescott’s deep-ball. Compared to 2014, his ball placement has improved tremendously.
Prescott is a curious case in this draft. He does flash the capabilities of being a dynamic NFL quarterback, both in the passing game and in the running game. However, Prescott’s inconsistencies are quite alarming. Also, it must be made known that Prescott had one of the best weapons in college football at his arsenal in De’Runnya Wilson.
How does Prescott fit in Dallas? If Dallas wants to become more athletic in terms of their offensive philosophy, I think Prescott is the best pick. He flashes the ability with his arm and he shows a ton of talent on the ground as well. If a team is wise with Prescott, they will draft him and let him sit for a few seasons. That’s where Prescott can succeed with the Cowboys.
