The last time that Jeremy Mincey was in the news he was drawing what appeared to be a line in the sand between his camp and that of Greg Hardy.
Late Tuesday night news broke, via Mincey’s personal Instagram account, that the 2014 sack leader for the Dallas Cowboys underwent successful surgery on his elbow.

“Glory to God My Surgery went Well. I pray He heals me Fully so I can do some real damage this year. #Hungry.#iknowwhaticando 👏🏿🙏🏿 trust that! On the 11th NFL Season with something to prove. #MMP #NoexcuseGrindTime“
After the 2015 season finally came to an end for the Cowboys, Mincey indicated that he had some bone spurs in his elbow that had impacted his performance throughout the year. Mincey also said that he intended to have surgery to rectify that, and it appears he’s done so.
Jeremy Mincey is an interesting Dallas Cowboy. He’s only played two seasons with a Star on his hat, but he’s developed into one of the leaders in the locker room. This is why it spoke volumes when he of all people spoke negatively about Greg Hardy’s presence on the team.
Cowboys fans shouldn’t forget that Mincey isn’t the benchmark for the “right kind of guy” that Head Coach Jason Garrett covets.
Remember that he held out prior to Training Camp – insinuating that he was worth more than his contract said at the time. Jeremy got a little boost in salary, but remember more than anything that during the first game of the regular season he had what would have been a game-costing personal foul on New York’s final drive had it not been for Eli Manning in all his clock-management glory.
Mincey is set to hit free agency next month so it makes sense that he would want to be in top shape for whatever team beckons his services. It’s still up in the air whether that will be the Dallas Cowboys or someone else. At the very least it’s a good sign to see that his surgery went off without a hitch and that he’s in high spirits.
