Brandon Carr Takes At Least $3mil Base Pay Cut

With just a few days left until the 2016 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys and cornerback Brandon Carr have mutually agreed to freestructure his contract according to Albert Breer.

This should come as welcome news to a lot of Cowboys fans who have been calling for Carr’s head on a platter for a few years now. It has been the belief of a lot of Cowboys faithful that he has never quite lived up to that lofty $50 million contract, and rightfully so.

Carr has been a steady presence in the Cowboys secondary having started every game since signing with the organization, but that still doesn’t sit well with fans.

What this pay cut shows is Carr is truly a team player and is willing to make sacrifices in order to help the team out. He may never live up to the expectations that were placed on him, but you can’t say that he’s not the type of player you want on your team’s roster.

This is welcomed news, especially after learning that the Cowboys defense will most likely be missing two starters in defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory for the first month of the season.

The Cowboys now have a little bit more cap space to work with in case they want to go after a free agent defensive end like Jason Jones, who they showed interest in earlier in the off-season.

A little bit more wiggle room is always nice to have, and you can thank Brandon Carr and the Cowboys organization for mutually working together and coming to a solution.
