The Dallas Cowboys preseason is officially over! A loss to the Houston Texans last night wrapped things up for the Cowboys, who will now get ready to face the Giants in week 1.
The wide and entertaining world of Cowboys Twitter was using this fourth and final preseason game to prepare for what hopes to be a memorable 2016 season. Let’s dive right into another post game edition of Tweet Break, featuring the best of the best from #DALvsHOU.
Darius Jackson Sprinting into Shape
While it may speak more to the Cowboys’ offensive line as a whole, any running back the team brings in seems to instantly become a fan favorite type of player. Truer words could not be said about sixth round pick Darius Jackson, was was not even invited to the NFL Combine.
Now, he is showcasing his skills in the crowded Dallas backfield, with a great chance at making this team. Jackson scored his first career touchdown last night against the rival Texans, and had Cowboys Nation jumping up and down in the process.
Just dump it off to @djackson_6…

Not sure how the Cowboys can cut Darius Jackson. Remember, there was no reason to draft him, other than he was pretty good.

Forcing Turnovers…with a Rookie!??
Undoubtedly, the Cowboys’ defense needs to find a way to force more turnovers in 2016. Playing Brandon Weeden is always good way to practice this, and even another sixth round rookie understands that.
The speedy Anthony Brown was able to pick off Weeden down the sideline, and return the ball to the house for his first defensive turnover and touchdown in the NFL.

Scandrick and Claiborne were the first two off the bench to celebrate Anthony Brown's pick-6. Both ran down near the enzdzone to greet him

Cowboys rookie CB Anthony Brown said INT return was his first TD at any level. Said he'd put football in his baby's crib until he finds case

With Orlando Scandrick’s health still a concern for the aging corner, Brown should be ready for whatever Rod Marinelli can throw at him as a slot defender – where he has received the bulk of his work this preseason – in 2016 and beyond.
A Heavy Chance of Showers
As expected, Jameill Showers played the entirety of this game at quarterback for the Cowboys. While his performance was less than stunning, Showers did have to once again work without the luxury of Dallas’ first team offensive line or pass catchers.
Here is a little bit of what people were saying about Jameill’s performance:
Jason Garrett says Jameill Showers did a "nice job" in first half. But "the fumble was bad, giving them an opportunity in the scoring zone."

Tonight, Jameill Showers looks how Dak Prescott was supposed to look this preseason.
— Cowboys Nation (@CowboysNation) September 2, 2016
Jameill Showers knows he must improve, but says, "I know I'm 10 times better as a quarterback than I was at this time last year.''

The Ohio State’s Finest
When Braxton Miller went down with an injury in his 2014 season at Ohio State, Ezekiel Elliott had to carry the Buckeyes to the National Championship – which he did.
Now, both players will be looking to separately lead their team’s offenses this season. Elliott, the 4th overall pick by the Cowboys, and Miller, the 85th overall pick by the Texans, swapped jerseys on Thursday night.

When it comes to the success that these two teams will have in the state of Texas this year, just look to the performances of Elliott and Miller.
All eyes will be on Elliott in just nine days, as he’ll make his regular season debut with expectations higher than ever for a rookie running back that has played in just one game so far.
Until then, thank you for checking out another edition of Tweet Break here at Inside The Star. The first regular season edition of this post will come next week, and you can follow us on Twitter @CowboysNation to keep up with everything you need to know surrounding the build up to Giants at Cowboys.
