Cowboys at Redskins: Injury Report

Jess Haynie

Both sitting at 0-1, Dallas and Washington will be looking to correct course in Sunday’s rivalry matchup. Unfortunately, it appears the Cowboys will be missing more key players due to injury.

Here is the latest Dallas injury news based on Thursday’s practices:

DNP = Did Not Practice
LP = Limited Participation

Cowboys Headlines - Orlando Scandrick Posts That He's Ready For 2016 1Dallas

  • QB Tony Romo (back) – DNP
  • DE Charles Tapper (back) – DNP
  • LB Mark Nzeocha (Achilles) – DNP
  • CB Orlando Scandrick (hamstring) – DNP

The big news here is Scandrick. His role as the slot cornerback is always important, but especially when DeSean Jackson is lining up on the other side. If Scandrick is at all limited physically then it could be a major liability. We may see Morris Claiborne covering Jackson as a result.

Romo’s absence will continue for at least another few weeks. We haven’t heard an update on his progress since preseason.

Nzeocha and Tapper could be returning at any point but, as young players and backups, won’t be rushed. Even once they start practicing we may not seem them dress in games for a few weeks.

Washington

  • Cowboys Headlines - Cowboys at Redskins: Injury ReportOT Trent Williams (glute) – LP
  • DE Chris Baker (rib/elbow) – LP
  • DE Kendall Reyes (groin) – DNP
  • LB Terence Garvin (sick) – DNP

Williams and Baker are the only two starters on Washington’s list. As the left tackle, Williams will likely be seeing a lot of Benson Mayowa. The new Cowboy had a sack last week and would love any advantage that Williams’ sore posterior might offer.

Washington can’t be thrilled about their defensive line injuries after getting run over by Pittsburgh’s DeAngelo Williams last week. The Cowboys will surely be looking to dominate on the ground and give Ezekiel Elliott every shot at having a breakout game. With Chris Baker limited and his backup, Kendall Reyes also hurt there may be a spot for Dallas to exploit.

  1. I have learned one thing for certain with this team under JJ’s ownership post Triplets ERA…NEVER assume the team they are playing any given week is an automatic W. So, we think the Boys will run over the Redskins D??? We will see. After last week’s horrific coaching, I lost all of the little remaining respect I had for RHG.
