The Dallas Cowboys outplayed and outlasted the Chicago Bears Sunday night in a primetime match up to come away with a 31-17 victory.
The Cowboys are now 2-1 and are sitting third in the NFC East division due to the tiebreaker going to the New York Giants because of their Week 1 victory over the Cowboys.
America’s Team looked dominant pretty much the entire game against the Chicago Bears, but if you were paying close attention there were quite a few things that still need to be addressed.
So, since I’m such a big Western movie fan, I decided to turn one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, into a post game article.
I think the title is pretty self-explanatory, but you will have to keep reading below for further explanation.
Without further ado, here is The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly based on the performance of the Cowboys’ performance against the Bears Sunday night.
The Good
If you’re anything like me while watching the Dallas Cowboys take on the Chicago Bears Sunday night, then you pretty much had a smile plastered on your face throughout 99% of the game.
The good that I noticed the most was the performance of the 2016 rookies for the Dallas Cowboys, and in particular Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott.
Elliott and Prescott both had career first against the Chicago Bears Sunday night. Elliott had his first career 100 yard rushing game and Prescott connected with Dez Bryant for his first career touchdown pass in the NFL.
This tandem is the future of the Dallas Cowboys offense once Dak Prescott officially takes over as the starting quarterback for Tony Romo.
The future certainly looks bright for both Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott.
The Bad
The Dallas Cowboys pretty much dominated all three phases of the game against the Chicago Bears, so there wasn’t really a whole lot of bad things that happened Sunday night.
There was one play however that resulted in the Cowboys sole turnover of the game and also allowed the Chicago Bears to drive the field and put points on the board.
The bad play I’m talking about is when Terrance Williams fumbled the ball after a long reception.
Normally, this wouldn’t be that big of an issue, but a lot of fans still have a bad taste in their mouths after Williams failed to run out of bounds in Week 1 against the New York Giants to stop the clock and give Dan Bailey a chance of kicking a 60+ yard field goal to win the game.
Williams has to do a much better job with his situational awareness when in the game. Luckily, his turnover didn’t cost the Cowboys a victory.
The Ugly
With Tyron Smith sitting out with a back injury, Chaz Green got the start at left tackle for the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night against the Bears.
I was worried about Chaz Green having to start an entire game, so I personally kept a close eye on him throughout the game from start to finish.
It wasn’t always pretty and sometimes ugly in fact, but he handled himself better than I thought he would. He did have three penalties on the night, one of which was declined.
I thought the Chicago Bears defense would test him more throughout the game, but I didn’t see that happen as much as I thought it would.
The Dallas Cowboys might have not only found their swing tackle for the 2016 season, but a future starter at right tackle once Doug Free moves on.
There is still a lot of room for improvement, but Green at least showed he is capable of filling in when needed.
