Tony Romo Seen Throwing Passes To Miles Austin At Practice

RJ Ochoa

It’s been 62 days since Cowboys Nation saw Tony Romo throwing passes. Reset that counter to zero, baby!

Shortly before all of this happened Head Coach Jason Garrett said in his morning press conference that Romo would not practice, and technically he isn’t practicing. Tony Romo is simply throwing footballs while practice is going on around him.

There’s a lot of understandable confusion as to why Miles Austin – who hasn’t found a home since playing most of last season with the Eagles – is at Cowboys practice and on the receiving end of Tony Romo’s practice. It makes sense if you take a step back and think.

The new CBA is very strict in terms of official practices and not going even one second over them. If Tony Romo wanted to get in some reps this season, while his teammates were practicing, it makes sense that he’d call up an old pal (who was just in the NFL last season) for a few games of catch. Tony Romo is one of the best teammates there is – he did host a house party for the team last week – and Miles Austin has been seen at Dallas Cowboys practices this season. It all makes sense.

When he was first injured it was rumored Romo would return for this Sunday’s game against the Eagles, now it seems like his 2016 debut could come 11 days from now in Cleveland. Whenever, wherever Tony Romo makes his triumphant return it will surely be a glorious day, just like this one is.

Tony Romo is throwing! Tony Romo is throwing! Huzzah!

    • Sure, but things aren’t going to go this way much longer. They’re going to get more difficult, and when they do you want the best QB in there – that’s Tony.

  1. I think things will be just fine. I was impressed the way they handled Green Bay. If the offensive line stays healthy and the way Elliot runs great downhill, I see play action to at least 3 or 4 different receivers. I feel pretty good about them boys.
