Orlando Scandrick Playing With Plantar Fasciitis

A few days ago Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett told reporters that cornerback Orlando Scandrick was playing through a foot injury. Late Tuesday night we found out more.

Scandrick has been upset recently with rookie cornerback Anthony Brown getting the starting nod as of late. Scandrick only played in nickel situations against the Vikings on Thursday, playing just 54 of 74 defensive snaps.

The Cowboys have a 2.5 game lead over Seattle in the race for the top seed. The sooner the Cowboys lock up the top seed, the sooner Scandrick and other teammates can get up to 3 weeks of rest.

Scandrick has a troubled injury history recently, missing all of 2015 with an ACL and MCL tear in his left knee suffered during training camp. He has also missed four games this season with hamstring issues.

There is no immediate fix for Plantar Fasciitis, meaning that only rest this offseason will heal Scandrick’s foot. Leon McFadden, who was promoted to the active roster back in November, may see more time as a result.
