Cowboys DE Ryan Davis Signs with Buffalo Bills

Like all of the Cowboys other defensive free agents this year, Ryan Davis has left for a new team. Yesterday, the veteran defensive end agreed to a contract with the Buffalo Bills after just one year in Dallas.

You’ve probably been waiting to hear that the Cowboys have signed some veteran pass rusher to help then in 2017. If they do, hopefully it will work out better than Ryan Davis did last season. Signed to at least add depth and hopefully a boost to the Cowboys pass rush, Ryan was only active for nine games and recorded zero sacks.

To be fair, Davis may not have had a great chance of success.  He was signed in Week 2 and had to try and work himself into a heavy rotation. While he never brought down a quarterback, Ryan did flash his ability to create pressure more than once. Still, it was clearly not enough to keep the Cowboys’ interest.

There is no apparent bitterness or hurt feelings on Davis’ part when it comes to the Cowboys. Minutes before tweeting about his new team and next chapter, he had some kind words for his 2016 employer:

Still just 28-years-old, Ryan Davis could still make an impact in the NFL. Hopefully he has better health and more opportunities in Buffalo than his one year in Dallas offered.
