What a day it has been for Cowboys Nation. Tony Romo’s retirement announcement shook the NFL world, as did his subsequent move to CBS to join Jim Nantz as a broadcaster – becoming official not only with his release moments ago but this picture from Tony Romo’s own Twitter account.

Social media has been a powerful tool for Tony Romo this offseason, with even harmless Instagram videos being linked to his status with the Cowboys. Romo’s relationship with the Dallas Cowboys came into question these past weeks, but the team ultimately did right by him.

More importantly, Tony is clearly at peace with the decision to end his NFL career having played solely for America’s Team, making the transition to the broadcast booth much like Troy Aikman and even Roger Staubach and Don Meredith to come before him as QBs of the Cowboys.

CBS has released this statement on Tony Romo joining their NFL coverage team, and Romo had this to say about the partnership as well:

Tony Romo wants to succeed in everything he does, and the opportunity for him to do so is now in a perfect role for #9 at CBS Sports.

Go get it, Tony.
