One of the greatest men to ever play in the National Football League officially retired on Monday, April 24th… and he did so with the team that drafted him. DeMarcus Ware was the 1st Round Draft Pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2005, and 12 years later he hung them up with the team he began it all with.

Of course, DeMarcus Ware DeMarcus Ware technically did retire earlier in the offseason after a three-year stint with the Denver Broncos to end his career. It’s been an offseason of serious change around the Dallas Cowboys as DWare’s longtime teammate Tony Romo also announced his retirement recently.
DeMarcus Ware is the only player in Dallas Cowboys Franchise History to accumulate over 100 career sacks, as he is the franchise leader in the category.
Ware never won the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year Award, but he truly did deserve it in 2008 over Pittsburgh’s James Harrison. He is one of the most decorated players to ever don the Dallas Cowboys uniform.
Ware retires with an innumerable amount of accolades while wearing the Star, but he also carries a Super Bowl ring that he earned during his time with the Denver Broncos.
Ware’s explosiveness off the edge, accompanied with Von Miller’s becoming one of the NFL’s premier rushmen, made for an unstoppable force that the Denver Broncos commanded. It was an exclamation point put on the career of one of the finest pass rushers to ever play in the NFL.
DeMarcus Ware, Tony Romo, and Jason Witten for so long served as the common denominators on a team that couldn’t quite get it done. It certainly is jarring to see two of those three already done with the game, a clear indication that, as the cliché says, Father Time is undefeated.
Cowboys fans near and far had been secretly hoping that DeMarcus Ware would indeed retire as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Our wish has been granted, and today is a better day because of it.
Now that D-Ware, has retired, I hope he passes down his wisdom and knowledge to our young defensive ends, on how to be successful on the field, as well as, of the field, when representing the Star.
This guy was so fun to watch. you knew that at any moment he could come up with a big play. The one that stands out the most was the regular season win over New Orleans where he had a strip sack of Drew Brees.
