Cowboys Waive Suspended WR Shaq Evans

The intrigue at the bottom of the depth chart for the Dallas Cowboys at wide receiver has lost one of its newest members, as practice squad WR Shaq Evans has been waived following the announcement of his four game suspension last week.

Evans, a standout for the UCLA Bruins prior to being drafted in the fourth round by the New York Jets in 2014, has never seen regular season action in the NFL – a reality that will not come true with the Cowboys, who had enough interest in Evans to add him for depth prior to their home playoff game against the Packers.

Before signing with the Cowboys, Evans went from the Jets to the Jaguars and then the Patriots for a short stint in 2016.

Shaq Evans was not going to factor into the Cowboys draft plans for this weekend regardless of his roster status, and being suspended while in a position way down the roster allowed Dallas to further resonate the “right kind of guy” mantra that Jason Garrett has instilled.
