Dallas Cowboys Draft CB Marquez White at #216

Sean Martin

After trading up in the sixth round for safety Xavier Woods, the Cowboys traded down from their original spot in the round to the 216th overall pick for Florida State cornerback Marquez White.

White is the third CB drafted by the Cowboys so far, with three more seventh round picks upcoming. Chidobie Awuzie in the second round and Jourdan Lewis in the third both project as starters, and White brings value himself as a consensus third or fourth round talent.

Drafting for traits at this point in the draft, the Cowboys add White at 5116 with 32 1/8 inch arms. Playing speed is also one of Marquez White’s strengths, all traits the Cowboys have focused on in their now-retooled secondary.

Marquez White likely won’t be forced to step onto the field right away and start at CB for the Cowboys, thanks to the selections they’ve made before drafting him, but this ACC product has the potential to become yet another late-round steal on the defensive side of the ball for Dallas.
