With an open roster spot ahead of their week seven game at the 49ers on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys have promoted practice squad defensive tackle Richard Ash. Ash joins the Cowboys’ 53-man roster in his second season with the team, performing admirably at the 1T position this preseason.

The Cowboys love to line up David Irving inside against guards at the 3T position, and with both him and Maliek Collins fitting best in this spot, the need for a true 1T is now filled by Ash.
Lewis Neal and Marquez White were also candidates discussed by Cowboys Nation to find their way onto the active roster, but the team must feel good about their depth at CB – even with Chidobe Awuzie out again this week.
With Neal also not suited to play as a one technique, Richard Ash has found himself a role in Rod Marinelli’s defensive front.
