Report: Byron Bell Expected To Start At RT Thursday Night

The Dallas Cowboys offensive line has been the recipient of much praise over the last few seasons, often being refereed to as the league’s best unit.

But, due to injuries and changes across the line this season, 2017 has been far from ideal. One of the biggest changes the Cowboys made on that line during the offseason was moving La’el Collins from left guard to right tackle.

Though Collins has suffered his fair share of growing pains, I actually believe he is coming along nicely on that right side. Last week against the prolific pass rush of the Los Angeles Chagers, Collins held up pretty well.

Now it appears there will be another change on the line due to injury, however, with La’el Collins missing a full week of practice.

According to Mike Fisher, Byron Bell is expected to start at right tackle Thursday night when the Washington Redskins come to town. Collins is dealing with a back issue, and hasn’t “done anything all week” according to Fisher.

Byron Bell saw his first game action of 2017 against the Atlanta Falcons, relieving Chaz Green after his putrid performance. Bell then started at left tackle the next week against the Philadelphia Eagles, but did not see any game action a week ago.

Now expected to start at right tackle, Bell will be making his second start of the 2017 season.

It is also important to note that right guard Zack Martin missed most of Thanksgiving day’s game against the Chargers due to a head injury, so it is possible that he could be pulled from the game if the issue flares up again.

This would leave Bell and Joe Looney on the right side, something no Cowboys fan expected to see back in August.
