Finally some noise erupted out of Valley Ranch today. Adam Schefter reported (via Twitter) that the Cowboys have agreed to a tentative deal with free agent outside linebacker Justin Durant.
Durant is a versatile outside linebacker who possesses excellent sideline-to-sideline speed. He’s considered a solid run defender and can play either the “Will” or “Sam” linebacker positions.
Last season Durant totaled 103 tackles and three passes-defended. He looks like an excellent fit for a team that was direly in need of linebacker depth and an accomplished potential-starter at the ‘Sam position”.
At just 27 years old, Durant is young enough to possibly become a staple at the linebacker position.
Details of the deal are pending and can’t be finalized until the Cowboys make cap space. Currently the Cowboys are in negotiations with Anthony Spencer and Tony Romo and reports indicate that deals could be announced soon.
