How’s this for class … on two plays towards the end of the game, while the Steelers were losing, James Harrison, Mr. Defensive Player of The Year, showed us exactly why he should have never won that award.
On a holding call against the Cardinals on Harrison, he stood right on the field mere yards away from Warner, who still had the ball and was looking to throw it, and never once tried to go after him. He didn’t try to rush him a little. No he just stood up and looked at the officials waiting for the call. I understand wanting the holding penalty to get called, but who gives up like that?
Better yet, what player has ever gotten a holding penalty either called or ignored? None! So why was Harrison even trying that?
But the big thing was how he trounced on who ever that was, I believe Francisco, during the Cardinals punt. He not only punched the guy in the back, then rolled him over after he was out of the play, but then he shoved him to the ground and got called for unnecessary roughness.
Just goes to show, Ware should’ve won that award with his better stats, better play, inability to give up on a play, and professional attitude at all times. That pisses me off to see such a loser get recognized with such an award. And I stand by this whether Ware was the runner up, or not.
We need more class on the field than that.
No kidding … This actually made what Pacman did against the Eagles look okay. Just really made me mad to see not one, but three fouls against a defender who was clearly just trying to take up space and occupy a guy, and on one play no less. I’m hoping that the Commissioner takes a second look at that one.
Thank you for mentioning this. I’ve been googling this since the game ended trying to find a video of some sort. After seeing that, it made me so grateful that I’m not a Steelers fan.
It’s kind of like something I read in today’s post on http://defendingthestar.blogspot.com/ where that guy thinks that this attention is good. His argument is that last year the team bought into the hype and slacked off for it, and that this year they’ll hear the negativity and be even more motivated for it.
I’m hoping that works out for us in 2009.
Atlanta fans are still just pissed that they put all their hopes on a dog-fighting felon. Luckily that team is getting back on track though.
Steelers … like I keep saying, blow jobs for all the Refs before the game would certainly tilt the calls in their favor. Maybe the Commissioner too with the way the NFL is hiding the definitive shot of that Holmes touchdown not-a-catch. JMO though.
I totally agree, but It look to me that the NFL has their Favorites, and i do mean the so call Commissioner. We all seen what happen to the patriots last year. To me its was a slap in the wrist. If your a northern team the comm. doesn’t pick on you much. I really think that he needs to take a look at a lot of the ref. More than half are going for their fav. team. Living in ATL I meet a lot of fan how don’t like cow boys just cause Dallas knock their team out of the playoff one year or the other, Or they think they should be call the Americas Team [steelers fan:( ]. I believe Dallas has to work that much harder cause they are dislike by many and love by us. True Texas fans.
