Most thought that right guard Zack Martin would be the next offensive lineman to get paid by the Dallas Cowboys. Instead, it is his teammate, and current right tackle La’el Collins who got extended first.
La'el Collins finally gets paid. He and Cowboys have agreed on a two-year, $15.4m extension thru 2019, source informed of the deal says.

The 2 year extension is worth $15.4 million through 2019, and locks him up well past his original end-date. After starting at left guard for much of his rookie season and the beginning of 2016, Collins missed the majority of last season with a foot injury.
Now healthy and moving to right tackle, some are questioning whether Collins will be successful in his new position.
Based on this new deal, however, the Dallas Cowboys seem to feel confident in the former undrafted free agent.
so the cap savings from Romo gets applied first to Collins
I’m with you. I think this is a sign that the Cowboys like what they see with Collins at RT. I’m really looking forward to seeing him and Martin bull doze the NFL.
