Cowboys Add Depth to Offensive Line, Sign Rookie Dan Buchholz

Sean Martin

For the second straight season, the Cowboys’ situation at swing tackle has been somewhat of a mess. Chaz Green was expected to secure the job, and took big steps towards doing so after his bounce-back performance against the Dolphins, but the team has still looked elsewhere for depth.

Adding to that depth now will be rookie Dan Buchholz, who was signed as a priority free agent by the Bears following the 2016 NFL Draft.

Buchholz played his college football at Duquesne, where he started all but one game through his four years as a starter. He started at left tackle, where Chaz Green has been getting all of his reps in the absence of Tyron Smith.

While he might just be a camp body to help the Cowboys get to the regular season with their stable of offensive linemen well rested and ready to go, the competition on this roster certainly won’t be very tough for Buchholz to deal with.
