Cowboys Bringing CB Leon Hall In For A Visit

One could argue that the Dallas Cowboys saw more production out of their #29 than the Eagles saw out of theirs in 2015.

Deji Olatoye, brought up from the practice squad in late November, made an interception when the Cowboys traveled to Buffalo to take on the Bills. It was quite the moment.

The Cowboys must’ve saw that play and thought, “We sure do like people who wear #29 and intercept passes,” because they’re taking a long and hard look at one.

Leon Hall, who has played his entire NFL career with the Bengals, is a veteran Free Agent cornerback that the Cowboys are bringing in for a visit.

Cornerback is an interesting position for these Cowboys. In 2012 they massively remodeled it when they signed then big-time Free Agent Brandon Carr to a lucrative deal and traded up to #6 Overall to draft LSU standout Morris Claiborne.

It isn’t 2012 anymore. Both of those big ticket corners have failed to live up to expectation; however, four years after the fact Morris Claiborne has been re-signed but many have speculated about Brandon Carr’s eventual release.

Cowboys Headlines - Cowboys Bringing CB Leon Hall In For A Visit

Perhaps the Cowboys willingness to bring Leon Lastarza Lafayette Lorenzo Hall (what a name!) in for a visit is an indication that Carr Cut Time is upon us. Or maybe it’s all a ploy to convince Carr to re-work his current contract.

Hall has 26 career interceptions since 2007, and he has experience playing all over the secondary. Early on in his career he even returned kicks/punts if you were looking for a cherry on top.

Whether it’s Leon Hall or Brandon Carr the Cowboys need to shore up their cornerback situation in the secondary. Assuming last year’s rookie standout Byron Jones does make the full-time transition to safety then right now all they’ve got is Orlando Scandrick (who’s coming off of a torn ACL), the newly re-signed Morris Claiborne, the newly re-signed Josh Thomas, Terrance Mitchell, and Deji Olatoye.
