How do you know its the NFL offseason as a Dallas Cowboys fan? Well, a pretty telling sign has become the inevitable defensive player arrests, suspensions, and other off-field issues. The latest wave of this has hit free agent addition CB Nolan Carroll, who was arrested on a DWI charge at 2:20 AM Monday morning.
A Dallas police officer pulled over Carroll for an unreported traffic violation before his arrest, and it unclear where he was heading at the time – although a promoted “Welcome to Dallas” party was held for him at a local bar on Sunday.
Nolan Carroll’s “welcome to Dallas” is now a frighteningly familiar sight, putting himself in bad status with his new team – signing with the Cowboys for three years after leaving the Eagles.
Carroll, as a 30-year-old veteran, was expected to hold down a starting CB spot for a Cowboys team that absolutely stayed committed to bringing in young blood at the position to replace the departed Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr.
Drafting Chidobe Awuzie in the second round, Jourdan Lewis in the third, and Marquez White in the fifth were all solid and expected moves for the Cowboys in retooling their defense – but they were all made with the hope that Carroll could still be the steady starter he’s proven to be.
