Cowboys Continue Roster Shakeup Sign 6’7 Defensive Tackle David Irving

In what may have come as a surprise to some, considering the current injuries and suspensions to the Cowboys defense, Dallas released defensive tackle, Davon Coleman, on Monday. And, while nothing has been mentioned as to why Coleman was released, we now know his replacement on the roster.

Dallas has signed David Irving — a 6’7, 272-pound defensive tackle from the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.

Irving was an undrafted free agent in 2015; he did not play in 2014 after being suspended from Iowa State due to off-field incidents. Irving has some talent. In an article by Dane Brugler on DallasCowboys.com earlier this year, Brugler mentioned that Irving surges off the snap like a sprinter with brute power.

Irving will have to remain on the Cowboys roster for a minimum of three weeks per NFL rules when a team signs someone from another team’s practice squad.

In addition to the Irving signing, the Cowboys have released Ronald Patrick from the practice squad and will replace him with Lavar Edwards.
