With reports circling prior to the NFL’s trade deadline that the Cowboys were looking to upgrade one of the thinnest positions on their roster, the 1T DT spot, the team instead opted to move forward with Maliek Collins and FA acquisition Brian Price.
Price was claimed by the Cowboys in early September, and found himself getting some meaningful snaps after Stephen Paea announced his retirement due to a knee injury. Unfortunately, a knee injury for Price suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs will also end his season now, as the 23-year old defensive tackle is heading to the injured reserve.

Formerly on the practice squad, the Cowboys already have DT Richard Ash on their active roster to continue filling in at DT. The loss of Price for the rest of the season could also create an opportunity down the line for Lewis Neal, who flashed during the preseason and remains on the practice squad.
Neal, like David Irving, projects best as a pass rushing three technique – which is why the loss of the run stuffing Brian Price may loom large. Maliek Collins will continue to get every chance to develop further in this role alongside Irving on the interior of Dallas’ defense.
