Cowboys Get Their Man, Sign Henry Melton

Brian Leatherman

Henry Melton decided to let the world know before anybody else that he was coming to Big D.

Reports came in that Melton was wined and dined by Jerry and company and then spent time with Defensive Coordinator Rod Marinelli into late Monday night.

News then came out Melton had left the Ranch Tuesday morning and was headed to St. Louis. It’s not known at this time if he met with Rams officials or not, however what is known is the Cowboys did offer Melton a deal and it was a deal he couldn’t turn down. Rumor has it, it’s a one year deal with a club option for up to three more years if he performs well.

For now, the Melton signing answers a lot of questions that have been going around about this defense, but it also could indicate some answers about the draft coming up in May.

The signing of Melton could indeed mean the Cowboys go BPA (Best Player Available) with the 16th pick or trade down, like last year, and get more picks.

But for right now #CowboysNation will gladly take the Melton signing. And although Melton is just one piece of the puzzle, it’s one sign the pieces could be starting to come together.
