Cowboys Have 20 Players With Expiring Contracts

We went into this season thinking that Butler and Terrance Williams could be battling for a starting role. So far, it hasn’t been much of a fight.

Williams has 42 targets this year to just 27 for Butler. They have about the same average per catch and each have two touchdowns. Williams is clearly ahead on the depth chart, though.

Butler hasn’t done enough to get much consideration in free agency, so perhaps Dallas bring him back with a minimal deal. Unless he has some breakout games coming up, though, he will likely be a lower priority than Terrance Williams.
