[tps_title]8. J.J. Wilcox, S (Age: 26)[/tps_title]
I was surprised that Wilcox made the 53-man roster at final cuts. I figured the Cowboys would roll with Jeff Heath as their veteran depth and rookie Kavon Frazier as the prospect. But Dallas went five deep at safety to keep Wilcox, and so far they’ve looked smart for doing so.
In a recent press conference, Jason Garrett commented on Wilcox’s improved play this year. His presence was critical while Barry Church was out with a broken forearm.
This starting opportunity didn’t do much to move the needle on Wilcox. He still has coverage issues and misses too many tackles as he goes for a big hit. Dallas will likely move on from him, having Jeff Heath and Kavon Frazier signed up for 2017 already.
