The Dallas Cowboys have been relatively quiet so far this off season in terms of signing new players to the roster, but they haven’t went without their coaching and front office changes. It was reported just hours ago that Lionel Vital is being hired alongside Will McClay as a Senior Personnel Executive.
Vital was last with the Atlanta Falcons in the Director of Player Personnel position, and has also spent time as a scout with the Ravens, Patriots, Jets, and Browns. Cleveland is where he got his start, when Bill Belichick brought him into the scouting department in 1991.

This is another smart move for Dallas, as their focus both in the front office and in the coaching staff has been to bring in as many bright football minds as possible. McClay and Vital have both received calls about general manager positions, but now both find themselves working at the top of the Cowboys organization.
With the team on the verge of a critical 2016 draft, it’s good to see the Cowboys add as much experience as possible in this area – as they hope to bounce back from a 4-12 season and contend for the Lombardi trophy in Houston for Super Bowl 51.
To do so, the team will need to fill some holes through the draft, which Vital will be a direct part of according to Todd Archer – working in the college scouting area. Defensive end along with defensive back are the two most glaring needs for now, despite the team having visits scheduled with Chris Long and Leon Hall.
