Tomorrow the Cowboys will return to AT&T Stadium for the first time in 2015 to face the Vikings for their third preseason game.
Many fans call the third preseason game the “dress rehersal” – as it often closely resembles regular season action.
If this is the case, the Cowboys would like to show some more positive signs to their home crowd – entering at 0-2.
There is no reason to panic, as the losses out west have given the team nothing more than decisions to make depth wise – a good problem to have for Jason Garrett and Rod Marinelli.
It was Garrett who kept the tone of yesterday’s practice light, sending the team back to Dallas early when Nick Hayden and Randy Gregory succesfully caught a punt from Chris Jones.
Marinelli will be tested once again against a verstaile offense, as we expect to see Teddy Bridgewater and possibly Adrian Peterson.
Bridgewater has impressed this preseason as a thrower and a runner, completing 78.6% of his passes – just above a 15% increase from last season.
2015 may very well be the year of duel-threat quarterbacks, and the depth will be needed along the defensive line to slow them down.
This may come at the expense of a player like Gus Johnson, who likely does not impact the offense as much as an extra corner improves the defense.
This also means if we see Tony Romo on the field tonight it will hopefully be mostly with Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden behind him.
Whatever happens tomorrow, it will just be good to see the Cowboys back on their home field – a step closer to hosting the Giants when it counts in week 1!
