Cowboys, Seahawks Inactives for Week 16

Jess Haynie

The Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks have announced their seven inactive players for today’s game. These two Wild Card contenders are both in a must-win situation, and both will be without some important players as they try to keep their playoffs hopes alive.

Cowboys Inactives

  • WR Brice Butler
  • TE Blake Jarwin
  • DT Richard Ash
  • DT David Irving
  • LB Justin Durant
  • LB Justin March-Lillard
  • CB Orlando Scandrick

The big losses for Dallas are on defense; disruptive lineman David Irving and veteran corner Orlando Scandrick. Both are valuable in any game perhaps especially against Seattle. Irving has the athleticism to give Russell Wilson problems and Scandrick would had been good for covering Doug Baldwin.

With Richard Ash also out today, look for Lewis Neal to get a lot more time at defensive tackle. As for the cornerbacks, we’ll see the young trio of Jourdan Lewis, Chidobe Awuzie, and Anthony Brown trying to handle the Seahawks’ receivers.

This will be the second week without Brice Butler. Look for more targets for Noah Brown and Ryan Switzer in his absence, though the offensive focus is surely to be the returning Ezekiel Elliott.

Seahawks Inactives

  • RB Eddie Lacy
  • WR David Moore
  • C Joey Hunt
  • DT Quinton Jefferson
  • DT Nazair Jones
  • LB D.J. Alexander
  • CB Mike Tyson

While today’s inactives are all bench guys, Seattle’s biggest issue are the guys who are on Injured Reserve. The Legion has lost its boom without Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman. Even with guys like Michael Bennett and Bobby Wagner still in the mix, the Seahawks have been bleeding yards to opposing offenses.

Welcome back, Zeke! Eat up!
