The Dallas Cowboys have consistently seen high-priced season averages on the secondary ticket market in recent years.
While the team has failed to post a winning record since 2009, the Cowboys have managed to retain a relatively high average price at AT&T Stadium.
According to TiqIQ, the most expensive home game on the Cowboys schedule will be the home opener against the 49ers this weekend, and that is just one of two games that will have an average ticket price above $300.
The season average for Dallas Cowboys tickets is currently $260.97, but the average price for Cowboys vs 49ers tickets for this Sunday’s game is $336.98, marking a 29% premium on the secondary market. The get-in price for the game is $117, which is also the most expensive get-in price among all Cowboys home games this season.
The 49ers have been a focalpoint of off season headlines dating back to April when linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested for eliciting terrorist-like threats at LAX. Smith will serve a nine-game suspension while defensive end Ray McDonald was also arrested for domestic violence and will undoubtedly miss several games.
The unraveling of the 49ers defense may prove costly early in the season, but the perennial playoff team will certainly find ways to fill the gaps, albeit not as perfectly as their first line of defenders would.
While the Cowboys look to break from their humdrum play of recent years, quarterback Tony Romo will again be on the chopping block as the wishful title of savior Dallas fans have bestowed upon him since his rookie season in 2006. With the 49ers heading to AT&T Stadium this weekend, he will be tested early and often, despite San Francisco’s second string of defenders.
If secondary ticket price is any indication of on-field success, however, the Cowboys may keep the faith in Romo and his monotonicity as they search for their first winning season in five years.
