With the team hurting at corner because of injuries, and the recent suspension of Orlando Scandrick, the Cowboys traded DT Ben Bass to the Patriots for Justin Green.
Bass and Green have both made it in the NFL the hard way by catching on with their former teams as rookie free agents. Ben Bass earned a roster spot in 2012 out of Texas A&M, and Green caught on with the Patriots in 2013 out of Illinois and was on the active roster twice in the 2013 season for the Patriots, according to Nick Eatman at DallasCowboys.com.
Although the ‘Boys seem to be short at DT, due to injuries for Melton and Crawford, however the team felt the bigger need was corner.
Ben Bass never reached the potential the team thought he had once he arrived back in 2012, he always seemed to get hurt and this year was no different. Bass has been nagged with hamstring issues and really hasn’t had the ability to showcase any of that potential this offseason.
In my opinion, I don’t feel this will be the last trade we see from the Cowboys between now and the start of the regular season.
