Coming off a week two victory, the Dallas Cowboys are thought to have a serious chance to win once again this Sunday and get to 2-1. Their opponent, the Chicago Bears, have looked pitiful offensively through the first two weeks, losing to both the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles.
For an offense which was thought to have a somewhat decent number of weapons, the Bears have been putrid. Making matters worse for the Bears, quarterback Jay Cutler has already been ruled out for this week’s game, and Brian Hoyer is expected to start.
Despite all of the dysfunction in Chicago, Alshon Jeffery has still found a way to be productive. In fact, he has been just about their only threat offensively through two games.

When left one on one, Jeffery has dominated cornerbacks with double moves like this. His footwork and route-running are both as good as anyone’s in the league, and when the defense allows him to get separation like this, he is tough to stop.
Jeffery’s size and length also give him an advantage over defensive backs, as he is able to go up and win those “50-50 balls.”
Through two games, Jeffery is top ten in receiving yards with 201, and despite not recording a touchdown thus far, he remains a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Especially in the red zone.

Since entering the NFL, Alshon has had a ton of success against the Cowboys. In 2013, he caught 5 balls for 84 yards a touchdown. In 2014, he record 95 yards on 6 catches and scored once again.
Alshon Jeffery is a tough match-up for any defense. I don’t imagine the Cowboys will have any one corner in particular follow Jeffery around the field, but I am most looking forward to seeing our new and improved Morris Claiborne lining up against him.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Alshon gets upwards of 8-10 targets this week, especially now that Hoyer is the starter. The Cowboys defense must be cognizant of where he is at all times, and must have a solid plan to slow him down this Sunday.
If Alshon Jeffery can be held in check, the Cowboys will almost certainly be able to win this pivotal game.
