The NFL schedule was released Thursday evening and it marks the begining of fans’ anticipation of the upcoming season. This even marks a string of events that everyone is excited for that starts with the NFL draft, includes OTA’s and training camp, and concludes with the preseason.
I’ll get right to the chase, this is the Cowboys 2013 schedule:
Week 1: New York Giants
Week 2: @ Kansas City Chiefs
Week 3: St. Louis Rams
Week 4: @ San Diego Chargers
Week 5: Denver Broncos
Week 6: Washington Redskins
Week 7: @ Philadelphia Eagles
Week 8: @ Detroit Lions
Week 9: Minnesota Vikings
Week 10: @ New Orleans Saints
Week 11: BYE
Week 12: @ New York Giants
Week 13: Oakland Raiders (Thanksgiving)
Week 14: @ Chicago Bears
Week 15: Green Bay Packers
Week 16: @ Washington Redskins
Week 17: Philadelphia Eagles
Quick Takeaways:
– The Cowboys have a very favorable first six weeks with only two away games. It isn’t out of the realm of possibility that they start quickly out of the gates. A 5-1 or 4-2 record should be the target.
– The week 11 BYE comes at a perfect time as it will allow the team to get rested and healthy for a hard push through the end of November and into December. Weeks 14-17 are the hardest slate of the season, in the what is historycally the Cowboys’ toughest month.
– The Cowboys only have two back-to-back away games and one pair of those is seperated by a bye week. This is the first time in a while that I can remember the Cowboys not having some vicious road trip.
– Overall, at quick glance, I think the Cowboys could flow through this schedule with 10 or 11 wins. If they stay healthy, this is a playoff team, no question.
Love my Dallas Cowboys!
