If you want to get acquainted with the newest Dallas Cowboys Running Back Alfred Morris then you should really check out our film review on him.
Alfred is much more than a football player, though. He’s a very humble person. Over the next several days you’ll likely hear all about his 1991 Maza 626, which he famously purchased for two dollars. Seriously.
Two dollars for a car is a pretty freaking sweet deal, am I right? You couldn’t even buy a pair of rollerblades for 200 pennies let alone a fully functional motor vehicle. It’s a bargain.
Alfred Morris himself was a bargain for America’s Team when he chose them as his new football home on Tuesday.
When you consider that deal given Alfred’s career you want to do somersaults. In four seasons Alfred has:
- 49 career starts (he missed 15 games due to injury).
- 868 career carries.
- 3,806 career yards.
- 20 career touchdowns.
Oh wait, I’m sorry! Those are Doug Martin’s career statistics! Silly me. Well it’s worth mentioning that Doug himself has put together quite the career in the exact same time span that The Butler has. In fact Doug’s efforts were rewarded two weeks ago with a 5-Year contract worth $35.75M with $15M guaranteed.
My apologies. Here are Alfred’s career numbers:
- 64 career starts (he has never missed a game).
- 1,078 career carries.
- 4,713 career yards.
- 29 career touchdowns.
That’s right. Alfred Morris is better than Doug Martin in every significant statistic, and his deal is a 2-Year contract with a $3.5M base and a chance to earn up to $5.5M.
Let’s look at these numbers next to each other for the full effect, shall we?

Isn’t that interesting?
The Dallas Cowboys have slow played their hand in free agency. Many were ready to break the glass and punch the panic button, but as my fellow Staff Writer Sean Martin wisely cautioned us… all we needed to do was remain calm.
Look at how our patience has been rewarded! The Cowboys just signed a running back with higher credentials than Doug Martin for a fraction of the cost. Many will point to Martin’s 2015 campaign (1,402 yards and 6 touchdowns… which by the way Alfred Morris topped in his rookie season) as the primary reason for his hefty payday, but that’s the exact sort of thing that the Cowboys don’t want to be a part of.
This Front Office has brilliantly played this position in Free Agency. Sure, we were all disappointed when Lamar Miller elected to sign with our little brother down in Houston a few weeks ago, but after seeing the contract details surrounding Alfred Morris we should be celebrating.
The Cowboys downright stole Alfred Morris from the NFL, especially the NFC East.
In 16 career games against the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles Alfred Morris has:
- 280 carries.
- 1,117 yards.
- 3.99 Yards Per Carry (thanks math!).
- 5 touchdowns.
- 11 50+ Yard Games.
- 8 75+ Yard Games.
This man is a straight up monster inside the most hallowed division in NFL History! And now he’s all ours! At an incredible price!
The Dallas Cowboys walked into the 2016 Free Agency Dance dressed to the nines, but they chilled on the wall while all the lame songs came on. Now the good tunes are bumpin’ and they are out on the floor bustin’ a move all over the place!
