We are two, count ’em dos, days away from watching the Dallas Cowboys play a football game. TWO DAYS.
I’ve said many a time this offseason that we really haven’t even seen our Cowboys since that fateful January 11th day at Lambeau Field all the way back in 2015’s infancy. That sounds confusing since we saw the Cowboys play a whole season across the Fall of 2015, but were those our Cowboys?
Sure, Tony Romo pulled off a miraculous Week 1 victory over the Giants, but it didn’t feel like the team we know and love. That feeling of discontent was magnified exponentially a week later when Romo went down with his first broken collarbone of the season. After that it was a lather, rinse, repeat cycle of misery.
It’s been quite the while since we’ve seen America’s Team do battle on the gridiron, so Saturday’s contest against the Los Angeles Rams in the famed Coliseum will be more than a breath of fresh air.
Cowboys Nation has gotten accustomed to holding that breath though, unfortunately. I wrote last November about how long it’d been since Tony Romo and Dez Bryant hooked up for a touchdown. I’m not saying I can predict the future or anything, although Back To the Future is my favorite movie of all-time, but that following Sunday Romo hit Dez and an X was Thrown Up. So yea… I can predict the future!
In the same spirit I’ve broken down how long it’s been since particular moments pertinent to the 2016 Dallas Cowboys. Cher once speculated about what she would do if she could turn back time, well I’m better than Cher so today I’ve done it. Voila!
Number Of Days It’s Been | Since _____ |
344 | Dallas Played a Preseason Game |
222 | Dallas Played a Regular Season Game |
579 | Dallas Played a Playoff Game |
249 | Dallas Won a Game (any game) |
260 | Tony Romo Took a Snap |
264 | Tony Romo Threw a TD |
237 | Dez Bryant Caught a TD |
222 | Jason Witten Caught a TD |
579 | Orlando Scandrick Started a Game |
617 | Orlando Scandrick Had an Interception |
229 | DeMarcus Lawrence Had a Sack |
224 | Ezekiel Elliott Had Over 100 Yards in a Game (OSU) |
224 | Ezekiel Elliott Rushed for a TD (OSU) |
226 | Dak Prescott Threw a TD (Miss St.) |
258 | Dak Prescott Ran For a TD (Miss St.) |
As you can tell, it’s been a pretty long time since we saw some cool stuff.
The likelihood of Romo, Dez, Witten, Scandrick, Lawrence, or Zeke breaking these streaks on Saturday is pretty slim if we’re being totally honest. Considering that the Cowboys are in the backup quarterback business (as in they need one), Dak Prescott is going to get some chances to set these numbers to zero in LA.
Two days!
Which one of these streaks are you hoping to see fall on Saturday when the Dallas Cowboys take on the Los Angeles Rams? Let us know! Comment below, Email me at RJ@RJOchoaShow.com, or Tweet to me at @rjochoa!
