Now is the time for Terrance Williams to step up, period.
Why now?
The Cowboys need to have a threat on the outside, some semblance of a threat to throw the ball downfield and force Secondaries to occasionally double a Receiver. Brandon Weeden also needs to know there is someone on the outside that he can trust.
We all remember the 42 yard touchdown Weeden threw to Williams against the Eagles, but do we remember the first time the two connected for six points – a 43 yard touchdown against the Colts last season?
So their first touchdown went for 43 yards, and their second for 42, is a 41 yard score next up for the tandem?
…Does it matter?
While they have shown they can connect for big plays, the Cowboys just need Williams to provide something on the outside. This fact was not lost on Terrance this week. He knows that two drops and his inability to get open are not acceptable.
Even when there is a healthy Dez Bryant.
If Williams does not step up his production the pressure falls on Brice Butler and Devin Street to provide something from an outside receiver. Terrance has flashed play making ability throughout his career, now he has to prove he can be a consistent target that will not make a Quarterback think twice about targeting.
Under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football, Terrance Williams will need to shine. Brandon Weeden and the Cowboys offense need him to prove that no situation is too big for him.
