The Dallas Cowboys have found their veteran backup quarterback with game experience. Mark Sanchez Mark Sanchez (I just wanted to cross his name out once to convince myself this was real) will join the team to backup Dak Prescott until the return of Tony Romo.
It is a fascinating turn of events for Dallas’ depth chart at QB, as the former Jets and Eagles starter will now land in the silver and blue following his release from the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos. None of this makes sense.
Cowboys Nation was hopeful for a guy like Aaron Murray to join the team via waivers, but the Cowboys held true to landing a guy who has a body of work to look at in this league. For his career, Sanchez has completed 56.7% of his passes for 86 TDs and 84 INTs.
At the very least, Sanchez understands how to manage a game more than Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel did in 2015. If he is called upon, things would already be looking bleak for the 2016 Dallas Cowboys, and Sanchez would still have the best offensive line in the league to work with along with Ezekiel Elliott and Dez Bryant.
Mark Sanchez’s 2016 deal in Dallas will reportedly be worth $2.5 million.
Let’s all hope Dak Prescott makes us forget about any quarterback on the roster not named Tony Romo for a very long time.
