Coming into the season, fans tirelessly pleaded for every free agent running back imaginable to be signed by the Cowboys. There was not a high level of trust in Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, and Lance Dunbar to pick up where DeMarco Murray left off.
While Randle became one of the biggest disappointments of the season, and Dunbar was taken out for the year with an injury during a week 4 game in New Orleans, McFadden stepped up to be one of the Cowboys brightest stars.

McFadden saw 239 carries this season after taking over the starting job midway through the season, and totaled 1,089 yards. He also had 5 games with 100 or more rushing yards.
What stands out about DMC is the fact that he put together his second-best rushing total of his career despite becoming the Cowboys primary weapon down the stretch. Defenses repeatedly stacked the box against him, but he was still able to go for 4.6 yards a carry.
With Tony Romo set to return next season, McFadden must focus on staying healthy and duplicating his success. McFadden’s physical and straight-forward run style should be a great fit behind the Cowboys offensive line and with Tony Romo under center – which will keep defenses honest.
Factor in the speed of Dez Bryant and hopefully Brice Butler on the outside, and McFadden should have plenty of running room next season!
