Eagles Player Views Dak Prescott And Ezekiel Elliott As Top 3 NFL Players

RJ Ochoa

The Dallas Cowboys will be playing a game against the New York Giants on Sunday, and if they win they will officially be the Kings of the NFC East in 2016.

Somewhere out in Philadelphia though, the Eagles already know that… and so much more. We know, for sure, that a member of the Philadelphia Eagles views Dak Prescott as the second best player in the NFL and Ezekiel Elliott as the third.

NFL Films, the best in the business when it comes to sports movies, are currently on tour across all NFL teams taking votes for the annual NFL Top 100 list that comes out in the middle of the offseason. They go do the polling at this time because players are all still in the facilities.

NFL Films posted on their Snapchat that Eagles players were filling out their ballots and even named Jon Dorenbos, Carson Wentz, Fletcher Cox, Darren Sproles, and Steve Means specifically. Maybe this list that we can see is one of theirs, maybe it’s someone else’s, the point is is that the Eagles obviously fear Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott a great deal.

The NFL Top 100 is typically a prisoner-of-the-moment sort of list to be totally fair, but it is pretty neat to see just how much the Eagles players themselves acknowledge the greatness of the Cowboys rookies. To put this properly in context… whichever Eagle filled this out literally believes that the only player in the whole NFL better than Dak or Zeke is Tom Brady. Incredible.

  1. QB’s with at least 100 completions in 2016, Dak is 3rd at 108.6
Only Brady and Ryan are ahead of him.

Btw, Romo’s rating for career is 97.1. But this is a better offense than he ever had, so if healthy his 2016 rating would be right there with the 3 above.

But if you are drafting & starting a rookie QB and he is already 3rd best in the league, then you made the right pick. Lots of upside in the years ahead as he really figures out NFL defenses.

Elliott of course is the NFL rushing leader with 1285 yards. There is a guy at #2 who is also pretty good – DeMarco Murray. They are getting 4.9 and 4.6 a tote, respectively.

Wait, there’s more. Elliott has 4 fumbles, Murray has 3… ;^)

It’s really not a lot considering the number of carries and collisions. The precision and expertise of the game has changed so much since the Staubach era. QB interceptions and RB fumbles were common. The coaching to prevent those is far advanced now. Same with kickers. 40-50 yard FG attempts used to be hit or miss, now considered a chip shot. Of the top 10 kickers of all time, all of them are currently playing or recently retired.

The fair Rookie of Year vote is that Dak & Elliott share it.
