The best of the best team defenses don’t change very much in Fantasy Football. There are few instances during the regular season where Seattle or Denver will end up on your bench.
Unless you have one of the top two defenses, you are going to be playing the match game from week to week.
One of my favorite team defenses going into this season is Oakland. They play in the AFC west, which isn’t home to the most high-powered offenses.
The Risers
Aside from Oakland, a team defense that I really like is the Los Angeles Rams. They have a really good defensive line that is going to create a ton of pressure. Plus, they will get the San Francisco 49ers on the schedule twice this year. Their match-ups with Seattle and Arizona aren’t the best, but they could turn into defensive struggles.
I also think the Jacksonville Jaguars offer a lot of opportunity for the price. I currently have them ranked 16th, but they have done a lot this offseason to improve each level of the defense. Draft picks Myles Jack and Jaylon Ramsey join Super Bowl winner Malik Jackson, who comes over from Denver.
The Fallers
Count me as someone who is not a big believer in the New York Giants on defense.
It would be really easy for me to point out how short-handed they were in 2015 after Jason Pierre-Paul’s unfortunate accident, but I won’t do that. Many people are high on the Giants offseason additions of defensive end, Olivier Vernon, and cornerback, Janoris Jenkins.
The overall mood around the Dallas Cowboys has been a collective, “Meh.” While at times, both Jenkins and Vernon were productive in 2015, this looks like an instance of throwing great money after above average or good talent.
