So much has been made about Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott this season. Maybe that’s because they’re rookies, or maybe it’s because they’re QB1 and the top running back for America’s Team.

Cowboys Headlines - Is Cole Beasley The Best Slot Receiver In The NFL? 1

What about the top wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys? For so long that honor has belonged to Dez Bryant, but with his injury and status through six games this season that status quo has been changed. Who is the best wide receiver on the Cowboys these days? Cole Beasley.

The “Saucemaster” is more than just the best wideout on his team, Cole Beasley is one of the best wide receivers across the entire NFL right now. A few weeks ago Around the NFL writer Chris Wesseling did an analysis of the best slot receivers across the league – Cole was 10th.

Here’s what the players on that list have done this season:

Well, well, well. Here are some Cole Hard Facts based on this little list here:

  • Cole has seen the 6th most targets.
  • Beasley has 3rd most catches.
  • ‘Ol number 11 has 3rd most yards.
  • The best wide receiver on the Dallas Cowboys, Cole Beasley, has the best catch percentage.

These are some pretty impressive numbers for the guy who was ranked 10th a month ago. He is far and away the most efficient name on this list, and he’s only behind guys like Larry Fitzgerald and Jarvis Landry who have far more national hype than our Saucemaster.

There’s no denying that what Cole Beasley has done has immensely helped rookie Dak Prescott in all his accomplishments thus far. The Dallas Cowboys are playing total and complete football, milking the clock and sustaining long drives, and so much of that can be attributed to the excellent play exhibited by Cole.

At the end of the day one could say that Larry Fitzgerald, who lines up everywhere, and Jarvis Landry are probably better than Cole overall; however, considering that Cole is an undrafted guy who has turned into one of the most elite weapons in football… I’ll take Mr. Beasley all day long.
