As you may have heard Jerry Jones made a comment to the media on the subject of Marion Barber not making the trip for the Steelers game. He questioned The Barbarian’s toughness saying that he believed Marion could have played this week.
I have a couple of problems with this. First of all your name is not Jerry Jones MD. How could you possibly know he could play, obviously the injury was bad enough that the training staff/medical personnel and Marion decided it would be best to give it a week to rest, instead of playing on it and possibly furthering the injury.
Second of all, I understand being angry about the loss, and I am, but when you say things like this about your pro-bowl running back some people see it as you putting the loss on Marion’s shoulders for not playing. That is absolutely ridiculous. Tashard Choice played out of his mind on Sunday and honestly I don’t think Marion being in the backfield would have been the missing link to pulling off the win. The Boys had the game in the bag and blew it, it had nothing to do with Marion sitting out. Tashard Choice in my eyes was the best offensive player on the field for the Cowboys.
Now I know this is Jerry freaking Jones we are talking about, the wildcat Oil Tycoon, so this has to be about him. He wants everyone to know that this is his team (like everyone in the world couldn’t have told you that)and his life so his way of proving that was bashing the fortitude of his star RB to the media. Marion Barber is the last person I would ever question about playing hard, or missing a game due to an injury.
