Well, the Dallas Cowboys were officially eliminated from the crazy NFC East playoff race in their most recent heartbreaker to the Jets. That’s not to say the Cowboys did not give us a fair share of highlights, as well as plays that cost them the win. After looking at the film, let’s break down another edition of plays of the week!
The Cowboys took a 3-0 lead on the game’s first possession, which was highlighted by this Lucky Whitehead reverse dialed up by Scott Linehan! Notice La’el Collins doing his usual thing, setting up a big play.

Still leading 3-0, Matt Cassel would later throw this interception. Avert your eyes, Cowboys Nation:

The Jets threatened to turn the turnover into seven points, but DeMarcus Lawrence came up with two huge stops. Here he is stuffing Chris Ivory on a second and short:

He then did it again on fourth down to give Dallas the ball back!

However, a Cowboys three and out following the stop led to this Jets touchdown – as Bilal Powell gave New York a 7-3 lead.

The Jets would take this lead into the second quarter, when we eventually saw Kellen Moore replace Matt Cassel and do this…

The Jets turned this into three points, extending the lead to 9-3. However, the Cowboys would take the lead into the break as Moore bounced back from the interception to get the ball to Dez Bryant:

A missed field goal by the Jets put the Cowboys up 10-9 on this Bryant touchdown at the half. After a New York punt to open the second half, the Cowboys had a chance to once again put points on the board.
Moore, yet again, fell victim to a bad read and interception though – killing this drive in the red zone.

Protecting the slimmest of leads, who else but Terrance Mitchell took the ball right back for the Cowboys on this interception, the first of the year by a Dallas cornerback!

Dan Bailey tacked on three more points, pushing the lead to 13-9. The teams would trade punts before the Jets once again took the lead on a ten play touchdown drive, capped off by Eric Decker taking advantage of a miscommunication in the Dallas secondary.

Now trailing 16-13, it was time to see what Kellen Moore had in store for us in a late game situation. He came through clutch, setting up a long Dan Bailey field goal to even the score at 16 thanks to passes like this:

The Cowboys left a lot of time for Ryan Fitzpatrick to work with however, and this busted coverage set up a New York game-winning field goal.

Finally, the Cowboys playoff dreams came to an end on this very play.
