Wow, even after a 4-12 season the Dallas Cowboys are having big-time names say they want to play for Dallas next season. Too bad they are only big-time names in the media and not on the playing field.
Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin lll have both expressed interest in coming to play for the Dallas Cowboys backing up quarterback Tony Romo. Who would be a better fit for the Cowboys?
Let’s look at why it would be a good idea and reasons why it would be a bad idea.
Johnny Manziel
JFF3: … Browns are so done with the guy. I will be stunned if he ever plays another snap for Cleveland. He wants to go to Dallas.

The Good
Johnny Football. I mean his name says it all. Manziel knows how to play football and can do it at a very high level. Manziel has yet to have a season under his belt where he starts all 16 games or even enter the season as a starter. Drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round with the 22nd overall pick in 2014, Manziel came out with high expectations. He was supposed to finally be the guy to lead the Browns to a Super Bowl. Cleveland was in an exciting time, not only did they just get Manziel, but LeBron James announced his coming back home party a few months later for the Cavaliers.
Johnny Manziel was loved by the Dallas Cowboys – or should I say just Jerry Jones. Jerry apparently was close to taking Manziel in the 2014 draft, but took Zack Martin instead. Obviously that turned into a great decision, but what if Dallas had taken Johnny?
Just by watching film on the 23-year-old, you see he has a knack for getting away from pressure and extending plays from inside the pocket, just like Tony Romo does. Johnny Manziel, if he came to Dallas, would learn behind Romo. Way better than being behind Josh McCown, right? It’s known that Johnny Manziel is a playmaker.

The Bad
I am just going to make this simple for you. Johnny Manziel has so much God given talent to play in the NFL, but he continues to make mistakes off the field. It’s a bad choice because he is immature. I’ve said it before, Tony Romo and others will not put up with it.
Here’s a list of his off-the-field antics, they speak for themselves:
- November 21, 2014 – Manziel allegedly involved in altercation at At The 9, a downtown Cleveland apartment building
- February 2, 2015 – Manziel enters rehab
- April 11, 2015 – Manziel is released from rehab
- October 12, 2015 – Manziel and his girlfriend involved in roadside altercation
- November 17, 2015 – Manziel cleared by NFL for roadside incident
- November 23, 2015 – Manziel spends bye week at Texas night clubs
- December 28, 2015 – Johnny Manziel makes headlines for a video of him holding an unidentified can
- January 4, 2015 – ESPN Reported “Johnny “Billy” Manziel seen wearing disguise at Las Vegas Club”
Robert Griffin III

The Good
Remember when we all dreaded playing the Redskins in Robert Griffin’s rookie year? That was the season RGlll led the Redskins to the NFC East title, seems like yesterday doesn’t it?
RGlll put up monster stats in 2012, passing for 20 touchdowns, throwing only 5 interceptions, and had a quarterback rating of 102.4. That wasn’t even the most deadly part of his game either, the option was so deadly his rookie year, defenses didn’t know how to stop it. RGlll ran for 815 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2012.
Obviously he was dangerous his rookie season and at least he has had success in the NFL, unlike Johnny Manziel. Griffin also had fans in attendance for the week 17 win over the Cowboys walking along the sidelines prior to the game. Oh, no big deal, that’s normal, but the fans had custom made #10 Cowboys jerseys with RGlll on the back side.
The Bad
After his rookie season his numbers went down and down fast.
Injuries started to pile up and he was never the same player again. The option game was quickly stopped and teams finally had a solution for it. Eventually, after several failed seasons, Captain Kirk Cousins took over. Cousins led the Redskins to a NFC East title this season and had a great year after being announced the starting quarterback.
The Redskins haven’t given Griffin a chance ever since. Robert Griffin lll was inactive for most games this past season. Another big impact is he never learned how to slide when running; he would always take the big hits from defenders. If you want to be the quarterback of someone’s franchise, you cannot go getting hit the way he does.
Below is a Twitter poll I ran to see who my followers would rather have in Dallas next season. Now the question is, who do you want?
Who would you rather the Cowboys sign?

It's real easy….none of the above. To say the Manziel can play at a very high level is a huge leap. While he has done some good things on the field we have not seen enough of him to make such a statement. But the guy is a train wreck and not anybody I would entrust my franchise to. Do you really think he would have the respect of the team? The guy cannot resist disaster! Who goes to Las Vegas in a disguise and then ask for everything to be comped???? That would be the guy that would not be my franchise QB. Is rather be wrong about him doing a 180 and let him get his life in order somewhere else.
It's hard to say really anyone would be better then what we have as a back as Cassel is old and Vaughn surely doesn't look like the answer either. So bringing in either guy could be a high risk option I would take for insurance purposes, but all things considered I think both would do much better in Dallas. Manziel may slow his role if you gave the cry baby what he wants, his name on a Dallas jersey. He's always wanted to be a Cowboy so it just might be the thing he needs, however he is gonna wanna start sooner than later. He's purely a show boat, look at me not the team kinda guy, kinda like Cam just a season ago. But look where he is as a player once he finally matured and realized it's not a one man show. So again giving Johnny what he wants might help speed up maturity for him as an NFL player. Again high risk but could be high reward so long as he doesn't follow in Jordan Cameron's foot steps and starts actually learning from mistakes. Now Griffin is more high injury risk option but does have talent especially if he was to sign and be coached by Romo and Garrett. He could finally tighten up some things to be that stud he was back when he was a rookie, especially with the help of an amazing O-line and the reemergence of McFadden. And we all know as fans that Jerry loves his high risk guys (McFadden, McClain). But he also gets the guys he wants too again (McFadden) so I wouldn't be shocked to see either one sign with us the off-season. But if I was Jerry I go with Griffin or both cause both may sign pretty cheap. Then you could get the comparison, but 99.9% unlikely that will happen.
Chris I think you have totally missed it on Manziel. You said if you give him what he wants he might speed up his maturity. That's exactly his problem! He's always gotten what he wants which is why he has no boundaries, no rules, and no accountability! He will either figure it out or wash out of the league. If the Browns cut him, the line for his services won't be very long. And I hope everybody else keeps Jerry out of the line! And as far as RG3…I just don't think his style of play fits Dallas' scheme. He might thrive in the right scheme but I don't think we need to roll the dice.
I just think the Dallas Cowboys and Johnny Manziel are not a good marriage when you consider the trouble Manziel has in handling the spotlight. If I'm Manziel's agent, or anyone who has his best interest at heart, I'm trying to either keep him in Cleveland or send him off to Detroit, Arizona, Kansas City, Buffalo or even Houston. Somewhere that's not going to ADD to the public spectacle that Manziel is already, but is also a place where he might get a shot to play in the next couple seasons.
The last thing Manziel needs is to be in Dallas where his issues will be exploited by the media and blown up out of proportion. Bringing Greg Hardy here taught us that much.
Well, Browns are about to make it official with Hue Jackson. I think that means the end of JFF. Let the speculation begin! [emoji52]

You can bet you last bag of popcorn that one of them will be a Cowboy in 2016.

I don't want either one but if you force me to pick i'd say R.G. 3.
Well I'll say this, Cleveland is a joke! The only reason why Manziel get publicity is because it's Manziel! In college the media praised him put him on a pedals tool and stood by to watch him fall! (Not making excuses for the kid but the kid was put into a horrible situation in Cleveland! Head coach after head coach, no stable locker room! Heck he's in Cleveland!
I think the kid can play, you give him low risk high reward contract, let him sit, learn a system- be surrounded by a veteran club! I think u can get a franchise QB!

Cleveland is a joke. I don't understand why Hue Jackson wants to go to another dysfunctional HC situation.
Manziel played good against Steelers. In fact the games he started were against some good defenses. I think I would roll with Manziel over Griffin. Roberts injury history has me concerned. I see Griffin in Philly as I am sure he wants to stick it to the Skins.
